Winter wake up

It’s April but winter is back in Keflavik. Mantra is ready. 05.04.2017

There was another wake up in winter this morning in Keflavik. But no worries, the Mercedes Mantra is a 4×4 bus and ready for adventures in any weather and road conditions. And of course the spikes are still in the tires for safety reason. So, if you need a lift over winter roads or like to have a sightseeing tour, just give a call.

Northern Lights are not giving up as yet

Green illuminated sky close to Sandgerdi. 30.03.2017

Despite to the last post the Northern Lights are still visible over Iceland. Last night they were to be seen from my home and I could catch a few nice pictures of Auroras just few minutes away from Keflavik on a quiet small road towards Sandgerdi. Let’s see if there will be more the next nights. Just give me a call if you want me to hunt for Northern Lights with you.

Final Northern Lights

Northern Lights over Gardskagaviti lighthouse in almost blue sky. 27.03.2017

The Aurora Forecast was just perfect and even clear sky was predicted. Travellers took the chance for a Northern Light tour with Best Travel and got a fantastic night sky show with dancing lights in different colours. It might have been the last solar storm  in Iceland for this season. But of course there is still a chance up to April 10th/15th. Days are getting longer and soon there will be no darkness anymore. There might be Northern Lights but you just can’t see it when the midnight sun comes up. But Aurora Borealis will be back late August. It’s a nice coincidence Best Travel met the final Northern Lights exactly there where Best of Iceland catched the first storm of the season in the night of 22./23.08.2016.

As you can see on the pictures of last night you don’t need to be a professional photographer. Eggert used his small compact camera to take those photos. Sometimes Northern Lights can be seen clearly and easily even for people with first sightings. But often the Aurora is difficult to see and it’s good to learn more about this phenomenon. Best Travel will help you in finding it.  Best Travel and Best of Iceland are telling you a lot about the Northern Lights during the tour. Take the chance and book your tour by email to info@besttravel.is.

Mercedes Sprinter is ready for sailing to Iceland. Picture taken in Poland. March 2017

Best Travel is looking forward to the arrival of the newest vehicle. The brand new Mercedes Sprinter has left Poland last Monday by ship and is actually sailing towards Reykjavik harbour. Up to this moment Best Travel was with 4×4 cars and a specialist for tours into difficult landscape. Now there is a chance for small groups up to 20 person to travel convenient in a new bus to many destinations in Iceland where 4×4 is not needed. There are a lot of new Sprinters to see in Iceland and you might ask why Best Travel isn’t working with stylish dark windows. The experienced owners took notice of their guests having all day a close look to Icelands fascinating landscape and taking pictures out of the bus. The windows on the new bus were specially ordered to please the visitors even on a Northern Light Tour. There is definitely more to see through. Continue Reading →
