On todays half day tour around Reykjanes Geopark a lot of nice photo subject were offered in a beautiful light. The sun isn’t high anymore and produces long shadows, the best one is the photographer himself looking like a lighthouse when picturing the lighthouse Gardskagaviti in Gardur. This lighthouse was built in 1897 and another one is only few meters away, it was built in 1944 and is actually the tallest in Iceland. In the old lighthouse is a cute coffee located and for visitors the steps up to the top are for free.
Gardskagaviti is highly recommended to visit, in summer you find many birds breeding and feeding and the midnightsun offers you on a nice evening a great scenery. Against end of August to beginning of May you might find Aurora Borealis if the sky is clear.
Even the weather changes can surprise as Best of Iceland reported end of last year.
