The Yule Lads are coming

Annually before Christmas, exactly the 12th of December the Icelandic Yule Lads start to come out of their cave in the highlands where they live with her ugly and ogress mother Gryla and the lazy father Leppaludi. They are coming down from the mountains to visit human beings, some children might still be afraid but most of them put a boot to the window and hope to find a gift there the next morning. The Yule Lads are 13 brothers, every one with a special character. They are all out the 24th of December, but the 25th the first starts to go back to Gryla. The 6th of January the Yule Lads are all home. Exactly now is the time you can meet them! A big chance is up North in Dimmuborgir where they have party time. From Keflavik or Reykjavik it’s too far to go there in just one day and by car. You can take the plane of course but there are so many things to see on the way that we recommend to visit Dimmuborgir on a 2 – 3 days tour.
